UPDATE | Errol Spence Jr in ‘Stable’ Condition, May Face DWI Charges

Never doubt the heart of a champion. The boxing world was rocked after waking up to learn that Errol Spence Jr. was “seriously injured” after rolling his Ferrari in Downtown Dallas early Thursday morning.

Now, everyone is breathing a sigh of relief after learning that Spence is doing far better than was initially perceived. The undefeated welterweight is awake and his condition is listed as “stable.” Amazingly, he did not sustain any broken bones or fractures from the horrific accident but has some facial lacerations.

“He is expected to make a full recovery,” the Spence family said in a statement Thursday evening. See the full statement below:

Dallas CBS 11 News is reporting that Spence has “broken teeth” and expected to recover, adding that “sources” believe he could face a DWI charge.

It’s way too early to talk about if the Olympian will ever fight again, but we’re glad to hear that the champ is doing better than originally thought. The great Teddy Atlas summed it up best with get well wishes wrapped in one of his trademark motivational speeches.
